How to make sure EPC alerts ring your phone

Some residents did not receive the recent earthquake drill phone call. We are reviewing system and vendor logs, and we want to help you make sure future alerts get through. The EPC alert caller ID is 408-223-1368. Please save this in your contacts as “Villages Alert System.”

Why you may have missed the call

  • Your phone treated the call as spam or an unknown number
  • Your voicemail was not set up, or the mailbox was full
  • A call blocking setting or app filtered the call before it rang

What to do now

  1. Save the EPC number
Add 408-223-1368 to your contacts, name it Villages Alert System, confirm it is not marked as blocked.
  2. Check your voicemail
Make sure voicemail is set up and has space for new messages.
  3. Review call blocking settings
    • iPhone:
      • Settings >Apps> Phone, turn Silence Unknown Callers off.
      • Settings >Apps> Phone > Call Blocking & Identification, turn off any third-party call blockers you do not use.
      • Open the contact for Villages Alert System and confirm it is not listed as Blocked.
    • Android:
      • Open the Phone app and tap the three dots.
      • Go to Settings > Blocked numbers and Caller ID & spam.
      • Turn off any filters that send calls directly to voicemail.
      • Add 408-223-1368 to your allowed contacts list.
  4. Carrier tools
Some carriers provide spam filtering. If you use one, allow calls from 408-223-1368.
